Private Dwelling in Rochestown

"Having lived in a Period house for many years, the time was right to build a new family home with an emphasis on sustainable design, low running costs and comfort.
I envisaged a bright and airy modern family home, with open plan living areas, three bedrooms and mezzanine space for a home office / study / library area.

Conscious of the new energy rating system, I wanted to achieve as high a rating as possible and ultimately attained an A3, which I am very pleased with.

Being an avid gardener, I was keen that hard and soft landscaping be incorporated as early on as possible.  Most of the existing vegetation was retained and this enabled the dwelling to blend into its surroundings very well.

Living in a sustainable home has proved to be very satisfying.  The use of extensive glazing on the southern façade, wooden floors, under-floor heating and solar panel have all combined to make this a very comfortable, energy efficient and relaxing environment to live in."

Private Dwelling in Blackrock

"Our initial aim was to achieve a comfortable home of a manageable size. The design developed, in consultation with the Architects, into a two-storey three bedroom house with spacious open plan living accommodation and an accessible bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor.

We are enthusiastic gardeners and enjoy the interaction the design has created with the dining area a central focus within the garden, whilst creating sheltered outdoor spaces.

Building in a sustainable manner was important to us and the construction of the house in breathable wall construction has achieved a very comfortable home with ridiculously low heating costs. Despite getting maximum sunlight penetration into the house and gardens, the Architects have also managed to maintain our privacy and that of next door."
