"Having lived in a Period house for many years, the time was right to build a new family home with an emphasis on sustainable design, low running costs and comfort.
I envisaged a bright and airy modern family home, with open plan living areas, three bedrooms and mezzanine space for a home office / study / library area.
Conscious of the new energy rating system, I wanted to achieve as high a rating as possible and ultimately attained an A3, which I am very pleased with.
Being an avid gardener, I was keen that hard and soft landscaping be incorporated as early on as possible. Most of the existing vegetation was retained and this enabled the dwelling to blend into its surroundings very well.
Living in a sustainable home has proved to be very satisfying. The use of extensive glazing on the southern façade, wooden floors, under-floor heating and solar panel have all combined to make this a very comfortable, energy efficient and relaxing environment to live in." |
